Arguably the least classy song of all my parodies, and yet at the time of this paragraph it lead the all time downloads for me, has hit a higher rank than any of my other songs in both Comedy and General Comedy, is the only song that has reached 200 or more listens and was the first, and so far only song to top 30 listens in one day AND has the most downloads for one day with 16. Story about this misheard lyric by: Justin A lot of people have misquoted the lyrics in this song from Disney's Hocus Pocus, performed by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy. There are numerous covers on YouTube and even a novelization of the movie that includes the lyrics to the song. They even repeat the same spell in Hocus Pocus 2! And without fail, most people get the lyrics wrong; they say "alpha" instead of "oppa". If you look at the witches' lips when they say it, you can see they say "oppa" not "alpha" and the subtitles on the DVD and Disney+ both say "oppa", not "alpha". Many of the covers on YouTube contain the incorrect "alpha", as well as the novelization and when the spell is repeated in Hocus Pocus 2, the same actresses say the wrong word! |
