Comments: "Singin' In The Rain" is from the 1952 motion picture of the same name. "Singin' In The Rain", the movie, was one of those few movie musicals that didn't get it's start on Broadway, but was Hollywood creating it's own version of a Broadway musical in light of the popularity of other movies that did start as Broadway musicals. "Singin' In The Rain" was pure Hollywood and probably couldn't have been done as a Broadway musical, first, since it was about Hollywood back in the late 1920's as talkies started taking the place of silent movies. Gene Kelly played actor, Don Lockwood, who literally sings this song in the rain (another one of those motion picture scenes that is internationally known). Actress-singer, Debbie Reynolds, as the character of Kathy, would sing the song later in the movie.
