Weird Names of Music Performer's Children:

  • Kira Henley - Don's last-born child, she wasn't born until her dad was nearly fifty. That means she was born in 1997. Yeesh! She's only like five or six! And her dad is 55 going on 56! Also, Don recently wrote a song called "Kira" and the song will soon be on Don's next album. Submitted by: Aaerni

Garden by your heart.
No, no.
You're not home.
But I can't see you.
Your brown skin shining in the sun.
I see you walk in a smoke.
Sunrise is on baby.
I can't tell you my love for you will still be strong.
Enjoying the boys of summer has gone.
Original Lyrics:
I'm driving by your house.
Not know you're not home.
But I can see you.
Your brown skin shining in the sun.
I see you walking real slow.
And you're smiling at everyone.
And I can tell you my love for you will still be strong.
After the boys of summer have gone.

Song Parody Fragments:

"Boys of Summer"
Better Lyrics:
Chores of Summer

Nobody ran the load
Nobody found the bleach
I smell it in the air
The laundry’s out of bleach
Thought I knew were clorox was
What did i know
Those clothes will stink forever
I should just throw them out, but

I can wash you
Your brown skid washin’ in the suds
You got that lid pulled back
And the rinse cycle on, baby
I can tell you
Our clothes will not smell strong
After the chores of summer are done
Original Lyrics:
Nobody on the road
Nobody on the beach
I feel it in the air
The summer's out of reach
I thought I knew what love was
What did I know?
Those days are gone forever
I should just let them go but-

I can see you-
Your brown skin shinin' in the sun
You got your hair combed back and your sunglasses on, baby
And I can tell you my love for you will still be strong
After the boys of summer have gone

Funniest Song Lyrics:

"Dirty Laundry"
The Funny Lyrics:
Kick 'em when they're up
Kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up
Kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up
Kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're stiff
Kick 'em all around
Why They're Funny:
The way he says 'Kick 'em when they're up' sounds like Pee-Wee Herman. During 'kick 'em when they're stiff', it was the telephone ringing sound effects I like.

Nonsensical Song Lyrics:

"All She Wants To Do Is Dance"
The Nonsensical Lyrics:
Well we barely made the airport for the last plane out
Why They're Nonsensical:
Hello? Barely making the airport makes the average person run late for the flight, and likely not catching the plane.
Submitted by: Mike Hack
"Dirty Laundry"
The Nonsensical Lyrics:
It's interesting when people die,
Give us dirty laundry
Why They're Nonsensical:
How so? Sometimes it can be, but the wording of this, and the song in general, seems confusing.

Made Up Words in Songs:

"Johnny Can't Read"
The Made Up Words:
Gain fans, gobble gangs, wonka wonka wonka
Comments:
There's no such word as "wonka," unless Henley is referring to Willy Wonka, which is doubtful, since the song has nothing to do with Willy Wonka. The song focuses upon reading illiteracy, and it also reflects Henley's respect for reading and his reading background.

Bad Grammar in Song Lyrics:

"Johnny Can't Read"
The Lyrics:
Well, he went and did something
That he shouldn't oughta done
Why:
The word "ought" must never be used with "had" or "should"; it should read "That he shouldn't have done."

Upbeat Songs With Depressing Lyrics:

"The Last Worthless Evening"
The Lyrics:
I know you broke up with him and your heart's still on the shelf
It's been over two years for me, and I'm still not quite myself
You can't be with someone else, and you can't go back to him
You're beginning to realize that it's sink or swim
Why:
The general song is depressing but the rhythm is very upbeat.

Lighter Side of Serious Bands:

"Sit Down, You're Rockin' The Boat"
Don Henley is best known as the front man of the Eagles, whose music was known for its sometimes poetic style. Mr. Henley took that style to a successful solo career in which he recorded several songs with social commentary. Then sometime in the early '90s, he recorded a laid-back rendition of this lighthearted tune from the classic musical 'Guys & Dolls,' and it got a surprising amount of radio play.

What A Band is Best Known For (aside from their music):

"Crude remarks about Glenn Frey and vomit"
Before The Eagles reunited in 1994, Henley was asked during a news conference if he would ever work with Frey again. His response was: "I'd rather eat my own vomit."
