Story about this misheard lyric by: Devin

I know Vapors came out before Biz Markie's hit song Just a Friend. I figured Vapors was the precursor to Just a Friend. I thought the guy Biz Markie refers to as "he" might have considered that girl just a friend and gave her the nickname "Friend" in order to show that she's not his girlfriend. It turns out that the girl's name is Fran.

Funniest Song Lyrics:

"Just A Friend"
The Funny Lyrics:
You, you got what I need
But you say, 'he's just a friend'.
Why They're Funny:
These lines have always amused me because the way he sings them makes it sound like 'he' is 'what I need'.

Nonsensical Song Lyrics:

"Just A Friend"
The Nonsensical Lyrics:
So I came to her room
And opened the door
Oh, snap, guess what I saw
A fella tongue kissing
My girl in the mouth
I was so in shock
My heart went down south
Why They're Nonsensical:
Earlier in the song -- twice, actually -- the girl tells Biz about her 'friend' and he clearly doesn't believe that the guy is 'just a friend'. So why is he now going to visit her, totally unsuspecting, and totally shocked by seeing them together?

Song Lawsuits:

"Alone Again"
Not only had this song sampled the entirety of "Alone Again (Naturally)" by Gilbert O'Sullivan, but Gilbert had also denied Biz the right to sample it. The resulting lawsuit made it a requirement for artists to gain permission and also pay royalties to be able to sample one of their songs.
