Madonna's, "La Isla Bonita"
The Lyrics:
Como puede ser verdad
La-la-la-la-la-la-laa Te dijo te amo La-la-la-la-la-la-laa El dijo que te ama
Why:
These are lyrics from Madonna's #3 hit song from 1987, "La Isla Bonita". The song itself is found on the Material Girl's 1986 lp, "True Blue". And the title is a Spanish phrase, roughly translated as "The Beautiful Island". Obviously in performing this tune, Madonna was in a state of mind to visit a tropical paradise, and the video of the song supposedly takes place on one with Madonna in a flamenco type outfit. The first line of the song, as re-written up above is spoken by Madonna and is roughly translated as, "Can it be the truth?" The other lines are from a later chorus near the end of the song and the two Spanish lines are roughly translated as, "I said, 'I love you.'" and "It (obviously meaning the island itself) said, 'I love you back.'" The rest of the song is sung by Madonna in English, although there were several Spanish translations versions recorded. As would become an international hitmaker as Madonna was and still is.
