Music Trivia -> Celebrities Who Sing -> A
All too often, a celebrity gets it into their head that now they've reach some margin of fame via a movie or sports, they can also sing! This usually turns out much worse than when singers try to act.
Name | Notable Song Credits | Comments & Submittor Name | ||
| Adam Sandler | The Lonesome Kicker | Someone commented on my parody and introduced me of his song. Anyone who knows about his sports comedy would know how good he is in those. Pacing is a but rushed, but it is not a bad song. - Rocky Mak | ||
| Amanda Seyfried | I Have A Dream, Honey Honey | She gives a suprisingly poignant singing performance in the movie 'Mamma Mia!', possibly being the most impressive singer in the movie's cast, where cast members perform ABBA songs, which are largely behind the movie's inspiration. Amanda gave herself a hard act to follow in a splendid and underrated performance in 'Mean Girls', but she didn't sing in that movie. Now in 'Mamma Mia!' she doesn't turn out to play a role as central to the plot as one might have at first expected and hoped for, but showing her singing ability this time is a most pleasant surprise. - Ingrid McCannless | ||
| Amy Adams | Happy Working Song, That's How You Know, If I Didn't Care | With a background in musical theater, this redheaded actress(not to be confused with the American Idol contestant) was able to make an eight-year movie & television career pay off by auditioning for the corny lead role in "Enchanted" and charmed millions, both young and old. - The Skuz | ||
| Andrew (Andy) Cole | Outstanding | Cole covered Outstanding by The Gap Band in 1999 when he was in Manchester United. It made it to no.1 for US R&B & Hip Hop songs, but never made it to no. 40 in the UK. - Rocky Mak | ||
| Andy Griffith | Frosty the Snowman | He also sang on 'Andy Griffith' and made a Christian album. But one of the most known TV show that he sang was on Rankin/Bass' "Frosty's Winter Wonderland". - Paul Warren | ||
| Ann Magnuson | You Don't Love Me Yet | Between 1985 and 1992, Ann sang for this oddball experiemental art rock band. They did a few cover tunes, most notably the Roky Erickson tune "You Don't Love Me Yet" with The Pussywillows, and even Screaming Jay Hawkins. Might be a little weird for some. - The Skuz | ||
| Anne Hathaway | Somebody to Love, Great Big World | Despite all those cover tunes she sang in "Ella Enchanted"(most notably Queen's 1976 hit "Sombody to Love"), it was that ultra-poppy song in "Hoodwinked!" known as "Great Big World," that proved that she was a great singer as well as an actress. If she has stayed with Disney, she could've even blown Anneliese van der Pol and Christy Carlson Romano away, the latter of which is tough to do. - The Skuz | ||
| Annette Funicello | Tall Paul, Pineapple Princess, O Dio Mio, Jojo the Dog-Faced Boy, My Heart Became of Age | Disney's Mouseketeer teen queen turned beach-movie-costar-with-Frankie-Avalon had a handful of hit records during 1959 and 1960. "Tall Paul" (written by the Sherman Brothers) was the biggest, making it to #7 on the Billboard Hot 100, even though Annette was not the first Mouseketeer to record the song. Annette's singing voice is nothing special but her hit songs were usually fun and catchy if lightweight pop songs with slight rock & roll flavor. - Chris | ||
| Antonio Banderas | Al Otro Lado del Rio, Livin' La Vida Loca, Songs from 'Evita' and 'Nine' | He is a good singer. He performed Al Otro Lado del Rio from 'The Motorcycle Diaries' at the Academy Awards and Livin' La Vida Loca in 'Shrek 2.' Perhaps more impressively, he starred in the film version of 'Evita' and the Broadway revival of 'Nine,' both musicals. - Raphael |
