Nonsensical Song Lyrics:

"Cross Over The Bridge"
The Nonsensical Lyrics:
I know it isn't easy to resist temptation's call.
But think of how your broken heart will hurt you when you fall.
For someday you will find that you are hopelessly in love,
And she'll belong to someone else, as sure as stars above.
Why They're Nonsensical:
As for those last two lines, doesn't that happen all too often, regardless of how much or how little one has "resisted temptation's call"?
Submitted by: Karen Smith
"Tennessee Waltz"
The Nonsensical Lyrics:
I lost my little darling the night they were playing the beautiful Tennessee Waltz.
Why They're Nonsensical:
There's a name for the logical error here. It is called the error of self-reference. In this case, the song refers to itself. That would mean the song would have to have already existed while it was being written, an absurdity.

Misrhymed Song Lyrics:

"Tennessee Waltz"
The Misrhymed Lyrics:
I remember the night, and the Tennessee Waltz
Now I know just how much I have lost
Yes I lost my little darlin', the night they were playing
The beautiful Tennessee Waltz
Why They're Misrhymed:
I'm sorry to say this, Patti, but although this has been a favorite song of mine since I was a little kid, 'lost' and 'Waltz' don't rhyme.
