Misheard Lyrics Stories:

"This Diamond Ring"
Misheard Lyrics:
This diamond ring doesn't shine for The Animals.
And this diamond ring doesn't mean what it did before.
So, if you've got someone whose love is true, but it's time for you.
Original Lyrics:
This diamond ring doesn't shine for me anymore.
And this diamond ring doesn't mean what it did before.
So, if you've got someone whose love is true, let it shine for you.

Story about this misheard lyric by: Wisnu Aji

I wondering if Gary & The Playboys mentioning the English Rock band, The Animals. However, they wrote the original lyrics of this song as "This diamond ring doesn't shine for me anymore" instead of "This diamond ring doesn't shine for The Animals" that mentioning this name. So, The Playboys never very knows The Animals although at that time in 1965 many English Rock bands are sitting on their hometown with entering the Top 10. About this song: "This Diamond Ring" is track #1 on their debut studio album, "This Diamond Ring", released in 1965. It was written by Al Kooper, Bob Brass, and Irwin Levine. Originally recorded by Sammy Ambrose and reaching #117 on Billboard's Pop Chart, this Pop Rock song became The Playboys' biggest hit single with topping Billboard's Pop Chart, their highest peak to date. Although "This Diamond Ring" failed to chart on the UK Singles Chart, their success on that country was once in a lifetime when a 1966 single, "My Heart's Symphony", reaching #36 in 1975. Making them one of the few successful 1960s homegrown bands who have a little bit of impact and more well known on their hometown.
