Bee Gees', "Spicks And Specks"
The Lyrics:
Where is the sun
That shone on my head
The sun in my life
It is dead
It is dead
Where is the light
That would play In my streets
And where are the friends
I could meet
I could meet
Why:
This song is about the sense of loneliness that was felt when things have changed and people have moved on.

The Bee Gees', "Stayin' Alive"
The Lyrics:
Life goin' nowhere
Somebody help me
Somebody help me, yeah
Life goin' nowhere
Somebody help me, yeah
I'm stayin' alive
Why:
I wouldn't call the rest of the song uplifting lyrically but the bridge and outro make no bones about the bleak and nihilistic themes of the song and the movie it was written for. Can we every truly understand the New York Times effect on man?

Bee Gees', "Tragedy"
The Lyrics:
Tragedy. When the feeling's gone and you can't go on
It's tragedy. When the morning cries and you don't know why
It's hard to bear.
When no one's beside you, you're going nowhere.
Why:
The whole song is about a guy's anguish over a breakup yet it set to among the most upbeat rhythms possible.
