Parody Song Title:

"The Top of Old Pokey"

Parody Written by:

John A. Barry

The Lyrics

The top of Old Pokey,
Is covered with blow
And horse. Horse is smothered--
He's Courtney Love's beau.

For Courtney gets pleasure
From drugs, and relief
From a four-hoovèd lover,
Whose measures aren't brief.

And briefs are her fodder
Her lawyers await.
Has a quadruped lover,
Like Catherine the Great.

The Great had a bay who
Could lurch with great thrusts
Her beau weighed several hundred. . .
Lowered on a truss.

From the trussed steed would issue
Flagella equine.
She died after a pail-load,
From a flattened spine.

Courtney Love's no maiden;
A glistening steed's
Where she's placed her affection
Men can't meet her needs.

For they'll leave when they wither,
Put boots on and fly.
A horse is unslakened;
He'll never run dry.

If you're not familiar with the apocryphal, hippocryphal story of Catherine the Great, let me know.

I, too, thought this was gonna be about Gumby. But thank you for mentioning Catherine the Great, who was played in 1995 by that other Catherine the Great, my beloved Zeta-Jones. And her mother-in-law, Empress Elizabeth, was played by the great French actress Jeanne Moreau, who played Catherine in the 1968 film version. I love when they do that (e.g., James Garner in the Mel Gibson "Maverick").
