Parody Song Title:

"Damming Joy"

Parody Written by:

John A. Barry

The Lyrics

Eau-damming joy! The pines, the pines are falling
in glade and glen, and then bark off is pried.
The Gum are gone and all the bowers are dying.
Rip Yew, strip Yew and lay them upon their side.

Water’s held back, inundating the meadow;
the valley’s where it soon is gonna go.
For farmers gazing straight across their hedgerows,
no damming joy, no damming joy in their hearts grows.

“Must be undone, what those beavers are trying,”
is their response, then they seek TNT
to blast and send those twigs, sticks, and logs flying,
because their weal lies in dry property.

They have no fear, reaching the periphery,
but the beavers are clever as can be.
It’s not just at damming they are persnickety—
they set the snare for unawares: castorstrophe [sic]
and trap saps who now gird the work structurally.

A friend of mine was losing trees around his lake to a particularly hungry beaver. So, he lay in wait, shot the beaver, and ate it! If he ever invites you for dinner, be careful and always ask what's in the stew. This parody could also be sung to the Nazi "Horst Wessel Lied", which conjures up strange images of beavers "goose-stepping" across a meadow, preparing to invade the forest and mow down some trees.

JAB - DAM!!! What would today's memorable collection of authors and parodies be without a JAB beaver song? Patrick - I also know Die Fahne Hoch. Horst was not the Klingon "Wessels" that Star Trek's Chekov talks about. ;D

Thanks, tree-muggers.

Reminds me of a single panel comic of the Ark stuck in water and a comment to Noah of "I told you not to bring the beavers!" 555
