The Lyrics

Did you ever hear tell of Lieutenant John Pike?
Who sprayed the young students who he didn't like?
Had boots made of leather, hand-gun and baton
"I was just following orders," said Lieutenant John

Spraying Occupy in the eye, hosing with spray
Spraying Occupy in the eye, hosing with spray

The students linked arms and all sat on the ground
And stayed where they were when the cops gathered 'round
"Don't use deadly force, or the press will complain,"
"Just spray all their eyes 'til they're screaming in pain."

Spraying Occupy in the eye, hosing with spray
Spraying Occupy in the eye, hosing with spray

Lieutenant John Pike drew his pepper spray can
And stepped up to show all the world he's a man
He gave it a shake and he started to spray
And an Internet Meme he became on that day

Spraying Occupy in the eye, hosing with spray
Spraying Occupy in the eye, hosing with spray

Now the whole planet knows of Lieutenant John Pike
Who sprayed the young students who he didn't like
For Lieutenant John Pike, with his can in his hand,
As a Meme, is forever, in Cyber-Space Land

Spraying Occupy in the eye, hosing with spray
Spraying Occupy in the eye, hosing with spray

His motto: "Spray it, don't say it!"

Not sure why you changed your name... But this was a pretty decent parody although I don't know the story behind it.

Thanks, AFW & JB & Matthias. I changed my name for personal reasons, nothing worthy of headlines. To learn the story behind this parody, go to Google or Yahoo or Bing and do a search on "Lieutenant John Pike" and "pepper spray". And then go to the "Image" search option and search for "Lieutenant John Pike" and "pepper spray" to see the Internet Meme.

This has the ring of an authentic ballad, doubly appropriate because Pike "folked up"! ;D

Zebulon Pike would like this, and so would Christopher Pike. As for me, I live just a mile from the New Jersey Turnpike (and an hour away from Zuccotti Park), and I think Lieutenant Pike ought to be demoted and renamed: "Sergeant Pepper."

As I said on Facebook, great parody, and great to see you around these parts again!
