Parody Song Title:

"When Georgie Starts Bringing Home Those Men"

Parody Written by:

Rick Duncan

The Lyrics

When Georgie starts bringing home those men
Hurrah! Hurrah!
We figure he'll be a citizen
Hurrah! Hurrah!
For hell will freeze and the heavens burn
It's hard to think when you cannot learn
On that distant day
That Georgie might bring them home

The people will cheer with mighty noise
Hurrah! Hurrah!
The wives and the parents will greet their boys
Hurrah! Hurrah!
Their terms of duty extended years
Their Soc. Security pension nears
And the debt we'll pay
When Georgie does bring them home

Get ready for a time of peace
Hooray! Hooray!
As "nucular" arms will not cease
Oy Vey! Oy Vey!
The world is now a much safer place
We put Bin Laden in his place
For another day
When Georgie won't bring them home

I looked it up: The original was written by Patrick Gilmore, who came from County Galway to America with the "famine Irish" in the 1840s, was America's first great bandleader in the 1850s, wrote other Civil War songs in the 1860s, and in the 1870s founded the forerunners of both the Boston Pops and Madison Square Garden. As for the parody, in the words of The Last President, Bill Clinton, "It would be funny, if it's not so pathetic!" Five bars of "Reveille."

Clever choice of OS... "pension nears", good; "Oy Vey" a funny incongruity. 555.
BTW, TT made two (parodic) attempts to teach Dubya not to say "nucular", both entitled "Nu-Cle-ar"; apparently, his aides haven't read them to him yet.

Rumsfeld Said: The Gulf War in the 1990s lasted five days on the ground. I can’t tell you if the use of force in Iraq today would last five days, or five weeks, or five months, but it certainly isn’t going to last any longer than that. [11/14/02] It is unknowable how long that conflict will last. It could last six days, six weeks. I doubt six months. [2/7/03] --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are things that we don't know and things that we don't know we know but what we do know is: "Their terms of duty extended years Their Soc. Security pension nears And the debt we'll pay When Georgie does bring them home" Keep up the good work! Phil

Thanks guys. I don't venture in to the political arena too often, but my son is in the Air Force, and the longer this thing drags on, the more chance of him having to go there.

Your first and thrid paragraph don't make any sense. The second one does and its funny as are some of the lines of the first and third, but if you want honesty....

Good one

Linda, if "we" wanted honesty, "we" would have voted for Al Gore or John Kerry. Apparently, as Jack Nicholson would say, "we" can't handle the truth.

Good luck to your son. (no joke ).

Thanks TT. So far he's not "Over There" As far as the first and third stanzas, Linda it's called sarcasm. Something that people here use when they say how happy they are to get a comment from you.
