Nat King Cole

Parody Song Title:

"Mow the Leaves, Sir!"

Parody Written by:

John A. Barry

The Lyrics

Mow the leaves, sir, mow the leaves, sir. I will pay you.
You can see, it has not been done for a while.
I cut only when the zoning board says, "Hey, you!
You're not zoned for agriculture in our file!"

So go file that lethal steel and mow the leaves, sir.
But be careful, or you'll have a broken part!
Toward the blade, please to not take one more step--
Toes are sliced there, and they're diced there.
You've been warned, so now please, mow the leaves sir.
And let your bold and loam-free, lawn-cleave work then start.

(implemental interlude)

[repeat second verse]

Mow the leaves, sir,
Mow the leaves, sir!

I had a time getting this parody to accept my vote, but I did. Are you on a grass, etc. theme today? I really liked this one. 5's (I couldn't leave you with those ones that someone so generously gave you)

JB, the album cover pictures of Nat King Cole made me picture him singing this parody on his old TV show while dressed like a weekend-homeowner, doing it like a skit...pushing a prop lawn-mower across phoney grass on the stage...wouldn't that have been just like the "50's"? 5's ~ ~ ~

I've got a pic of a Nat album cover to the right of this parody that actually pictures him with weeds growing out of his head! Nice one, JAB...555
