"New Scary Spill (Crude Oil)"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

The drilling rig collapse in the Gulf of Mexico threatens the entire shoreline from Texas to the Florida Keys. Response has been slow and hampered by weather. Both TOS and my parody have many "-ills."
They found oil spill
At first it was nil [1]
BP "knew the drill"
When they found goo

Fed loons stood still
For they had no will
And lingered until [2]
A scream came through

The winds on Gulf waters sprayed
Large swells on the sea
So all of those booms they laid
Were severed, broke free

Though we've made start
There's much to do still
For newswires are shrill
'Bout new scary spill

The winds in the White House played
Gov's fleet "blame BP"
But '94 plans once made [3]
We never did see

Thought they were smart
To "drill, baby, drill"
Now who'll pay the bill
For new scary spill?
[1] Estimates rose from 1000 to 5000 barrels per day.
[2] Only the Coast Guard was on-site for the first week.
[3] A 1994 EPA containment plan was used in a Mexican spill but not here.

A really great parody. Sums up the story quite well.

This 'oil spell" will not end "well"! Very well done and topical.

Brings new meaning to the "Domino" effect. Check how many times the administration has said they were on it "from Day One." ;D

Thanks, guys! It's good to see so many "on it [this parody] from day 1."
Footnote for line 3: BP had a 582-page emergency plan for Gulf rigs but not specific to this deep one.
In line 17, I almost changed "played" to "brayed" but that didn't fit "winds" (would fit the Dem mascot tho).

Parody, Barry, parody!

JB: Your comment applies to you too! A better line 4 is "To impound goo" although BP didn't succeed.
