The Lyrics

...as in monsters. For Artistry. One of the few parodies where I could NOT be bothered changing the choruses, it just took that much outta me.
I really can't go to sleep these days
I can't catch forty winks
I guess I can't close my eyes

There's a monster that makes me afraid
I'm scared right out my wits
But I know where it hides!

It's underneath the bed!
Hidin' 'neath the bed!
Droolin' 'neath the bed!
Underneath the bed!

This monster don't wanna go away
Although I've tried to plead
It whets it's appetite!

(Ooh-er!)

I guess it's thirty-foot tall
I wonder how it can squeeze
Beneath this old and mouldy bed of mine

It's underneath the bed!
(You can hear the laboured breathin')
Underneath the bed!
(Can't believe it's there at all)
Underneath the bed!
(Why can't it stop eating humans?)
Underneath the bed!

Are you gonna help me with my situation?
Monster fear is interferin'
With progress at school

If you think that the noises are just normal creatures
How would you explain then all the slime that festers
'Neath my bed
I'll bet you cannot, my friend!
Some friend you are, friend you are, friend you are, friend you are, Ben!

(Solo by the slime-monster)

How can you not care about my situation?
Your excuses are quite lame 'n'
Not working at all

I can't believe that you are calling me a chicken
Even if I am, you are still not helping
Are you, Ben?
You should, 'cause you're my friend
And friends do that, friends do that, friends do that, Ben!

Something large 'neath my bed today
And I need help to deal with it!
It could turn out real nice, or just eat us alive
But it's scared me so bad I took a ****!

They're underneath the bed!
(You can hear the laboured breathin')
Underneath the bed!
(Can't believe it's there at all)
Underneath the bed!
(Why can't it stop eating humans?)
Underneath the bed!

Underneath the bed!
Underneath the bed!
Underneath the bed!
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

They're underneath the bed!
(You can hear the laboured breathin')
Underneath the bed!
(Can't believe they're there at all)
Underneath the bed!
(Why can't they stop eating humans?)
Underneath the bed!

Underneath the bed!
(Don't care what it is)
(Don't care what it is)
Underneath the bed!
(Can't believe it's there at all)
Underneath the bed!
(Don't care what it is)
(Don't care what it is)
Underneath the bed!
(Don't care what it is)
(Don't care what it is)
Underneath the bed!
(Can't believe it's there at all)

Underneath the be-e-e-e-ed!

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Someone clean that slime up!
Also of note: I'm currently on summer holiday. Whee.

Not bad, I've read better by you for sure, but this song is brutal to parody, and you did a bang-up job of it. I was more of a monsters in the basement guy than under the bed or in the closet.

The pacing's a little wonky, but not bad overall. I'll clean up that slime for you if you pay me $4.33 an hour. (433 is my vote.)

Well heck...I liked it! You're really finding your own style, bobpie, and your humour and technical skill is improving rapidly. Top stuff. 555

The pacing is off a little, but overall, great job... 4-5-5

I gave it all ~5's~ for the sheer scariness of it . . . I remember my Dad pumping out the 'slime' from under our house on the Coast after the winter rains! I'm still scared of what 'goes on' down in the CrawlSpace!! Your next parody, perhaps??
Red Ant - December 06, 2007 - Report this comment
Having done a parody to TOS, I know what a monster it is. Some rhyming is a bit off, but it's funny and singable, so 5s all the same.

(Artistry) Rhyming and some pacing is a bit off, as per Red, Jonathan, and MacPhisto. I was looking for real build-up of suspense, but didn't get any.

(Artistry) Just cut the legs off the bed. Loved the idea, just needs a little tightening.

(Artistry) It went together pretty well. Even though I have to agree with the rhyme scheme comments, singing it the pacing is forgiving enough in the original to make it work, and it sounds close enough to work, keep it up TCOP

(Artistry) Heh! This reminded me of all those monster-under-the-bed Calvin and Hobbes strips. Great concept and execution.

Artistry- Who's Ben? Ben Kenobi? When I was a kid, I always hoped that Ben Kenobi would come and slice down those monsters under my bed with his lightsaber and save me. Never did, though. Anyways, very well done, Conqueror.

I have no idea what that above comment was referring to..... But I still agree with the rough rhyme scheme here Conqueror, one of your most solid ideas, but not one of your best writes.
UnKnownVotress - June 12, 2008 - Report this comment
Sir, this still retains it scariness . . . I have antique beds, which are higher up than most . . . I'm glad my ScottyDog prefers to sleep under there, her black Scotty eyes keeping guard !

(ABC4U)

Two of my kids were spared of the drama of monsters under the bed - They spent their early childhood in Japan and we slept Japanese style on futons. You only get jumpy when the futon gets lumpy. And I figred out when I was a kid if monsters were under the bed they were scared because that is where I hid when I was frightened. I DKTOS on this but I did listen to the Youtube link and I must agree that this one has to be a complete monster to parody. I'll give ya 5s if you keep the monsters at your house, OK?
