The Lyrics

Snakes On A Plane is being released on DVD soon! What better time to write a fitting parody! Its been a long time since I did a parody so I hope you like my latest effort.
Now this flight about to take off
I can here some weird hissy sounds
The floor near my window seat
Has appeared to move around
The hostess starts to scream out loud
She went a runnin' down the aisle
The venom was a-spitting
It smelt a kind-kinda vile

The captain don't like it!
Snakes on his plane! Snakes on his plane!
The Captain don't like it!
Snakes on his plane! Snakes on his plane!

By order of the captain
A cobra in my lunch
Has put me off my sandwich
And my tasty citrus punch
But the mayhem they are causin'
The python and the asp
The viper/boa-constrictor
Got my luggage in its grasp
As soon as the captain
Had gone airborne
They begain to hiss

The captain don't like it!
Snakes on his plane! Snakes on his plane!
The Captain don't like it!
Snakes on his plane! Snakes on his plane!

Now over in the first class
Oh! They're in the leather flyers!
The in-flight system's down
The cobra's bit the wire
But as the plane changed direction
The children have a laugh
The asps caught a whiff
Of that nasty venom barf!

The captain don't like it!
Snakes on his plane! Snakes on his plane!
The Captain don't like it!
Snakes on his plane! Snakes on his plane!

The crew called up their controllers
They said "You better sort them out"
Grab the snakes between the people's legs
Down the first class couch!
As soon as the captain was
Back in his flight-seat
The cobras went to to check out
The cockpit radio-beat

As soon as the vipers were
Outta their skin
The crew-hostess cried

The captain don't like it!
Snakes on his plane! Snakes on his plane!
The Captain don't like it!
Snakes on his plane! Snakes on his plane!

He thinks they are unsafe
Fundamentally they can't take them
You know he really hates them!
Happy New Year to all Amirighters!

Such a wierd concept for a movie. Will that give the terrorists any ideas?
Jason - January 01, 2007 - Report this comment
Yea thats a possibility 2Eagle. Who knows if it will happen in real life....?
Yoidy - January 01, 2007 - Report this comment

The title line really doesn't pace aginst the original (and I'm guessing you didn't come up with the idea for this parody that way, am I right?) but the rest is pretty OK in that department and seeing this is your first entry into a SOTM round I'll give it 555 anyway. :-)

(ABC-S) "I can here some weird hissy sounds", well I think you see why I'm pointing this out. . .you read my first comment, but this is a common mistake I made in my first posted parodies, light proof reading. . .obviously it should be I can hear some weird hissy sounds, on a daily basis that's fine though, just be careful if you want SOTM or SOTY material . . .it's still a good parody of a difficult OS that I can't believe people haven't heard of, was no one alive in the 80s? I liked it, I think you could have done a little less repetition, but funny, and that's the main goal when writing a parody. . .Just work on proof-reading buddy, and keep writing, you'll get there.

(ABC3) I agree with Peter Andersson on pacing "(The) Captain don't like it" but this was pretty clever, and one of the few times I think the chorus was fine as a repeater. 455

I thought this theme had been run into the ground, but you did quite well with it.---MM

(ABC3-S) I like a good Snakes On A Plane parody, mainly cuz I haven't seen the movie. Well done!
Stuart McArthur - March 12, 2007 - Report this comment
(ABC3S) wow, I reckon that's great, Jason - my fave of yours so far - I liked the idea of using that OS, even though the title didn't pace properly to your line - 455
Jeff Reuben - March 13, 2007 - Report this comment
Well done Jason, I couldn't figure out the pacing issue Stu saw. Haven't seen the movie, this gave me a good idea as to how it went.

I hadn't heard TOS in its entirety until tonight. I was thinking the title would be off-stressed, but the singer sings it unconventionally (ROCK the CAS-BAH), so yours works just as well. Even though I haven't seen the movie, at least I can understand your lyrics, so it's an improvement over the original in my book. 5s

Now that I downloaded "Rock The Casbah" I've got to say I can appricate this parody a lot more, but am I reading too much into the line, "Grab the snakes between the people's legs", or is that a perverted joke?
Mikey Squirrel - March 14, 2007 - Report this comment
(ABC) Funny parody.. I kinda agree about the title, though. I don't know, it just sounds it doesn't quite fit right. Regardless, good job.
Stuart McArthur - March 14, 2007 - Report this comment
it was having to stress the third syllable "Snakes on HIS plane" that I had trouble with, but it's a very minor quibble, and didn't stop me giving this points in the S-comp
