The Lyrics

With the tragic passing of the former queen of amiright, I hereby nominate Arwen as queen heir to the throne... My guess is there will be no dissenters. If so.. Off with their heads!
Arwen, this girl writes so well
the new queen bee lives and the votes they tell
Arwen the can outwrite a man
and her rhyming words have created fans
Arwen, has a pretty face, try her tunes for fives in this slagging place
Arwen, where the people try
and the parodist devils to her skills decry

the proof, my love is her topic span
time after time she out writes a man
but her new crown shines and we'll take a bow
she will rule in here and it's starting now.....

One bombs on an Arwen tribute, we'll I know that's based on your political views, though I may not agree with those, this isn't about those, and this parody was a cute little tribute to a deserving author, so 5s

You know, Malcolm...I've been stumping for this position (and really kind of assigned it to myself long ago...just ask Mr. Pacholek...) for years now. Years. It's SO gratifying to see that the masses are finally coming around. ; )

Of course I loved this...and am very flattered to be your chosen subject matter when you're unable to bash Barack. =)

Okay, but who was the former queen?
Andria - April 10, 2009 - Report this comment
I think the former queen of AmIRight was Royce Miller, who died several months ago.

OK... props to Arwen, but this parody was middlin'

No arguments with the parody or its beneficiaress, but... Royce died? Wow, I missed a lot while I was gone. What happened?
malcolm higgins - April 10, 2009 - Report this comment
Royce was the latest tragic victim of an abusive man in her life, and as a very special friend to both Guy and myself, she is sadly missed. The abusive husband shot her one day, leading her health to a tragic downward spiral she could not recover from. It wasthe precursor to her untimely death. May her sweet heart rest in heaven forever.. Her dignity requires I say no more. I miss her.

Malcolm - The passing of Royce hit me especially hard. I may have been the last person who actually knew her to have talked to her before her passing. I spoke on the phone with her in the late afternoon of the evening that she met her untimely end. I spoke with her family after the tragic event and they related that the last time they saw her was in the morning of the day she passed. Along with her passing went my sense of humor. I'm just now getting it back and I know that Royce would not wish for me to stop my writing because of what happened to her, so I'm working hard on my come back, but it is not easy.

Arwen - please forgive me if I don't jump on the band wagon for your coronation. I may still be awhile getting over Royce. So please accept my congratulations on being named the female monarch of amiright.

To add to BAD's comment, this parody is as much about Arwen as it is about Royce.

To the one bomber:

One bombs for political disagreement is one thing but to tarnish the memory of an amiright family member is totally inappropriate. It's totally a cheap shot and reeks of displaced aggression. Have you no respect or are you just plain ignorant? So we get it that you may have it in for Malcolm but this offends me because of the lack of respect for someone who will never grace these pages with her mark ever again. You can one bomb Malcolm or me or anyone else any other time, but not on this parody. I think the one votes should be removed by a site admin simply beause you are such a coward that you will not leave your name and a comment as to why you one bombed this.

What happen to the douche who shot her?
Guy - April 11, 2009 - Report this comment
Max - He called 911 and then turned the weapon on himself thus completing his suicide.
Arwen - April 11, 2009 - Report this comment
I think you're giving the one guy too much attention, Guy. What, really, do the ones do...especially since he/she didn't leave their name? Obviously the ones were left out of disdain for Malcolm...(or, maybe, out of disdain for me...the subject of the parody...I can't say that I have universal adoration quite yet)...and almost certainly not out of disrespect for Royce. (Malcolm didn't even mention Royce until after the ones were left...who is to say that the one giver even knew that she was the "former queen" of whom Malcolm spoke?)

I'm not saying this to disrespect Royce in any way...I know women who are in abusive relationships...and it breaks my heart when they are unable to break free from that abuse. I didn't know Royce well, but what happened to her was a tragedy, regardless of that face. Of course her memory should be honored. Spending ANY energy, though, being angry at someone who doesn't even have a name or a face...doesn't do anything to honor her memory.

Use your energy to celebrate Royce. Don't give cowards such as this and all of the vindictive "one guys" out there any attention...as they deserve none.
Arwen - April 11, 2009 - Report this comment
Ugh...and that should read "...regardless of that fact."

Also...in response to your comment to me, Guy...no forgiveness is necessary.
Guy - April 11, 2009 - Report this comment
Arwen - You are correct about not paying heed to the uno bombers. They do not deserve my time nor my energy. There is a lot about Royce's story that only a few actually know and what I was doing for her when her time came. I still smart from what happened to her and I feel blame for what happened to her. I had eyes but did not see until it was too late. She was troubled by her man's suicide and she still felt a strong need for him.

I am a suicide survivor and I was asked by John Jenkins to reach out to her and help her though the grief that she felt. So you see it was late last night when I posted that comment and I was pretty spent and not thinking as clearly as I would have been if I were rested, but another one vote was cast since my post last night. There is no excuse for that last one vote since my comment preceeded it. My comment probably brought it about. So now I can see that I probably got to them but I will no longer let them get to me. But I will consider the anonymous source and choose to celebrate Royce's life and not be manipulated by those who sickly revel in others' misfortunes.

Arwen - let me say this - you are a brilliant writer even though a lot of what you write somehow gets by me. I can tell your brilliance by the responses of others to your parodies. Royce had a really neat and unique quirkiness to her writing that I really enjoyed. So with that I will say hail and long live the Queen! Thanks for reeling me in and putting me straight on this.

Hmm...I didn't know much about Royce Miller, and I was vaguely aware that she died a few months ago. I wasn't aware she was murdered. According to what I read here...she was shot, her husband committed suicide, yet she survived a little while--hours? days?--before finally succumbing. Did I get that right? Also, I tried looking her up on Google but couldn't find a report about the murder-sucide. A different Royce Miller, male and 21, was convicted of murder. Did she have a different real name? As for the parody, DNKOS and don't have time to listen now, but from what I've seen and heard about Arwen, I say, Long Live the Queen! May I be one of the Princesses?

Malanie - Royce's husband shot her and ended his own life in January of 2007. Royce was in the hospital for a long time and it was touch and go with her survival. It was well over a year later that John Jenkins asked me to contact her. She had a lot of complications from being shot in the back point blank with a shotgun and had been undergoing treatment since this happened to her. In January 2008 she went to the Mayo clinic for treatment. She had massive nerve damage. The Mayo helped some and offered her some hope but she would never regain complete control of her legs and the nerve damage was permanent. Internal injuries to some organs were also cause for constant concern with her. Lets just say that the trauma took its toll on her. Arwen is so spot on about abused and battered women. It is an epidemic in society and is responsible for way too many deaths to women. Even one death due to an abusive mate is one too many in my book. I hope this clears up your questions on the matter.

And yes I will vote for you for a princess-ship on Amiright.

These types of crimes ticks me off, also what's up with the 1-nub?

This well-deserved tribute to Arwen has raised questions about Royce Miller. Melanie, you might have found her under Royceanne Miller. The January, 2007 incident can be found at http://www.wsmv.com/news/10698671/detail.html?subid=10106691. On the MessageBoard, Guy started a sensitive thread about Royce's entrance into the life eternal at http://www.inthe00s.com/index.php?topic=34953.0. I thank and commend Guy for all that he did to help Royce deal with her grief and depression.

It seems Guy and I had the best off site relationship with her. She sent me some cassettes of herself with her country compositions she was trying to get recorded in Tennessee. Very nice and pleasant, like her...She sent me some photos of herself as well. Short, and endlessly cute.. She was a sweet ,kind individual who worked in a University helping the kids in student services. She loved nature, walking by the river near Mufreesboro, and her pets. She loved this site and the pepole here. back in 03-04 I was somehow dubbed the King by some folks, only because of numbers of parodies. I sort of came on and passed Will Tong very quickly. I dubbed her "my" queen. That is how she became the queen of amiright .. sort of by acclaimation. We collaborated on quite a few, although the crown of collaborative parodies is and always will be the Hobbits.. I agree with your ascension to princess, and I also nominate Ann Hammond as Princess. Another sweet gifted writer with many friends here. I didn't realise this would set up such a torrent of comments about Royce, but her memory is sweet with all of us, and up there she's rhyming something to put here if she could. She was an amiright angel, and I'll always miss her here.

Royce and I exchanged a few e-mails. I did not know of her abuse at the time nor she mine. I do know that she lived in Tn. as do I. I'm sorry to hear of another victim of a husband's abuse, this one leading to the tragic end of life of a very talented writer.
