I made it through the bitterness,
Somehow I made it through.
They’re like alum on my tongue
As through I chew.

They’re not a treat to eat
But not bad when had a few
You have; and you’ll deal
With astringent feel. . .
Time for a brew!

Spicy gherkins
Slumber in slurry of brine.
Spicy gherkins,
Yet I start on them to dine.

Gonna dig into that grub; joy’s
Near here with this repast.
They’re tastier as I chew. . .
A gustatory blast.

They’re quite fine as I dine.
Taste is strong, yeah, you might say “bold,”
And they make my mout’
Form into a pout,
But on them I’m sold.

Such a bold treat I always eat; they can’t be beat.

Hand me some more tart treat. . .
