The Lyrics

Somebody can't take it. Somebody's getting even more emotional than Hillary. Moral of the story: A parodist who won't leave comments has no right to call John Edwards or anyone else "a little pansy-wansy."
Remember when the days were long
and rose beneath a smoggy sky?
Didn't have a chance in the world
with Georgie and Cheney standing by?
"Happily ever after" failed.
We were poisoned by those mental snails.
Lawyers suppressed all details
when those guys hanged us high.

So we'll find us a candidate who'll go
and bring us back again.
Sit and tell Repubs bye-bye.
Their tall tales fade in the wind.

And no more under their heel we're ground.
No more will their big lies confound me.
No more just to play defense.
This is the end...

This is the end
of the Republicans.

Oh, beautiful for spacious skies
because those guys are faltering.
They beat the plowshares into swords
for that drunken moron they appointed king.
Armchairs warriors again failed.
Now their sinking ship has sailed.
For eight years we wept and wailed
for every Dubya lie.

So we'll find us a candidate who'll go
and wash away the sin.
Sit and tell Repubs bye-bye.
Their tall tales fade in the wind.

And no more under their heel we're ground.
No more will their big lies confound me.
No more just to play defense.
This is the end...

This is the end
of the Republicans.

(instrumental break)

And who knows how long this will last
before we're thrown back in the past?
But now we climb out of the dust
to elect those liberals we can trust.
I need to remember this:
How Republicans have missed.
Let us take a long hard look
though it might make us cry.

Never forget how their heel, it ground.
And how their big lies did confound thee.
Now we go on the offense.
This is the end...

This is the end
of the Republicans.

Oh-my-my-my...

(long instrumental fadeout)
OK, we've got it narrowed down to three, maybe two candidates to restore the American Dream. They've still gotta choose between about seven to keep the Bush nightmare going. Does anybody really want to be on that side? After all, John McCain won solidly on the Republican side in New Hampshire, but his vote total would've made him third among Democrats.

I bit too angry (for perhaps good reason) to be very funny, and a few too many lines Straig from the OS. 433

the title alone brought joy to my heart

If only it were true. Comforting thought, though.

Prophetic, I hope, even tho' personally I'm not above subverting my own politics with a good rhyme if one comes along. :-)

Be thankful the parodist you alluded to in the opening comments doesn't enable them anymore - it's quite refreshing not to see paragraph long blogs in the latest comments. I agree with McKludge about there being a bit too many OS lyrics here, but good work none the less. Hillary would do stronger if she would stop waffling, and Ron Paul needs to cut his ties to the Republican party altogether - he's not doing himself any favors by not running as an independent. How McCain won the GOP side of the NH primary is beyond me... did everyone else get left off the ballots? 444

Well done, MP. I agree with your criticism of Will Tong for being unwilling to enable or leave comments. And I agree that Republicans will become extinct if they continue to act like Democrats.

well, Michael, now you did it.. "the end of the democrats" has to be penned. great entry here though, as is your usual standards.. :)

It is indeed a shame that the parodist you alluded to didn't allow comments on her last one, which was a parody of Mersey Doats...since I happen to know Irwin Drake, one of the authors (a former neighbor of mine). I found it humorously ironic that Mr. Drake, a proud card-carrying Liberal, was victimized (not very effectively) by someone with a slightly anti-Liberal slant. ;-)
