The Lyrics

I work as a farmer and I tend to the fields
and watch my flock
and from my cabin, out of the window
I saw in the field a scotsman stopped
then he lies down on the seeds I planted,
near broke my back
planted five pounds of grass,
and I'd like to get it back

I said Hey! McCloud! get offa my yew!
hey McCloud, get offa my yew!
hey mcCloud, get offa my yew
don't hang around, and squash down the ground

I thought I heard him singing
scotland the free, I think he's mixed a line
as he stands alone, I argue
get off that stuff, it's mine
he says, it's public land, there's too much sheep
don't you people wanna cut this stuff?
just cause you own this land do you have
to treat me so rough?

I said Hey! McCloud! get offa my yew!
hey McCloud, get offa my yew!
hey mcCloud, get offa my yew
don't hang around, and squash down the ground

I was sick of fightin, I'd had it with this
ripped his pipes off of his back
suddenly, quiet and peaceful,
I told him never ever come back
I spread the stalks out, put up some wire
and started to dream
in the morning, the dew was thickest
on the stems, right where old scotty'd been

I said Hey! McCloud! get offa my yew!
hey McCloud, get offa my yew!
hey mcCloud, get offa my yew
don't hang around, and squash down the ground

I said Hey! McCloud! get offa my yew!
hey McCloud, get offa my yew!
hey mcCloud, get offa my yew
don't hang around, and squash down the ground

Man, I'm disappointed. I was thinking "ewe"...

Shouldn't that be "MacLeod"? I read "McCloud," I'm thinkin' Dennis Weaver riding his horse up Park Avenue in that Seventies cop drama on NBC. And Claude, get your mind out of the gutter.

Great title for a parody... must admit, my thoughts had strayed to "ewe", too (hey, isn't that the name of a band?)
