Song Parodies -> Zach Parise
| Original Song Title: | "Take It Easy" |
| Original Performer: | The Eagles |
| Parody Song Title: | "Zach Parise" |
| Parody Written by: | Michael Pacholek |
The name of the young New Jersey Devils' star, of course, rhymes with the OS's title. The new Prudential Center is bounded by Broad Street, Edison Place, Mulberry Street and Lafayette Street in downtown Newark, with Market Street a block away -- the other street names just didn't fit the rhythm. Zach scored both goals in last night's Devils win over the Toronto Maple Leafs (the Make Beliefs), including the winner with 48 seconds left in regulation. The night before, he scored one in a win over the Tampa Bay Lightning. The son of former New York Islander star Jean-Paul (J.P.) Parise has really come into his own.
(instrumental center)
Well, I'm a-drivin' down the 'Pike
to see the team that I like
they got seven guys who score them goals.
Four with shots a-slappin'
two that hit some gappin'
one that blasts it through five-hole.
Zach Parise.
Zach Parise.
Devils' Number 9 leaves goalies feelin' queasy.
Lights the lamp, you know he can.
Winnin' games, he understands.
He finds a place in hearts of fans.
That's Zach Parise!
Well, I'm a-standin', feelin' merry
at Market and Mulberry
and such a fine sight to see.
It's a girl I'd tap
in a Devils cap
but her heart belongs to Zach, not me.
Her potential
is providential
as we walk into arena named Prudential.
We won't lose, no, we will win.
And in the next game, we'll do that again.
But then she won't let me come in.
She loves Parise!
(instrumental break)
Well, I'm a-ride New Jersey Transit
after seeing Zach's goal win it.
Got the Stanley Cup on my mind.
Zach, he's quite the rover
no defenseman can cover.
The net, somehow, he'll find.
Zach Parise.
Zach Parise.
Devils' Number 9 leaves goalies feelin' queasy.
That potential
is providential
as you walk into arena
named Prudential!
(instrumental close)
Oh, we got Parise!
Yeah, we got Zach Parise!

A fun hockey song, and worth 5s even tho' Caps-rooters like me can only hate the Devils.
I'm not a hockey fan, but I like this. Ever hear "The Hockey Song" by Warren Zevon?
