I heard "Hang On Sloopy" the other day. And I thought, "OK, let's write a parody called 'Hang On Snoopy.'" Oops, three people already had similar ideas, and I'd even fived and commented on two of them. (The third didn't allow comments.) Good thing I checked first. Very important parody guideline: If a title seems obvious to you, chances are (unless, or maybe especially if, it's a brand-new hit), it already seemed obvious to somebody else. As the Snooper himself would say, "AUUUUUUUUGH!"
Well, I heard a song that's rockin' just the other day.
And I said I'd put a parody on the board.
But let me tell you they had some news for me.
And it did not bring me glee.
And a bunch of imprecations I have roared.

I will 5 this...because I love Mr. Pacholek, and that is what I do for him...but also because it's great...well paced, funny, the whole lot...
...but I have to say...and I guess I'm alone on this one...that I really don't care if someone redoes a title/idea that I have already submitted. ESPECIALLY if they were unaware that I did it first. I feel like...if they thought of it all by themselves, then they shouldn't hold back their creativity just because I happened to think of it first.
I do check all of my ideas against the site history, because I know that the majority of writers are bothered by it...but just so you all know...if you've got a masterpiece that you're holding back just because I have one in my list of the same (or a similar) title...PLEASE SUBMIT IT. Obviously mine will be better...; )... but you should share yours anyway...(hehehe)
