Of all the Christmas traditions I've heard of, there's one that stands out among the makes-sense-for-the-northern-hemisphere and nicked-from-pagan-rituals varieties: why eat a goose?
Serve up this more obscure bird once a year
Eat up, whether it's crumbed or boiled or seared
But maybe this is a weird thing to do
Maybe I'm a clueless fool

I think my family's only done turkey a coupla times, and even then it was a store-bought crumbed loaf. Every other year it was either chicken or a traditional Australian barbeque. Because it's summer, and that's what we do in the summer. Dunno why you'd wanna be face first in the grill when it's already melty weather, but whatever, it's delicious.

That tradition has not made it over here - maybe in the most southern part of Sweden, but they'll eat anything there and call it a delicasy.
DKTOS, but nice lyrics. I think turkey is native to North America, and the goose tradition was established in England long before Europeans came to the New World and discovered turkeys.
