Original Song Title:

"Margaritaville"

 (MP3)
Original Performer:

Jimmy Buffett

Parody Song Title:

"Monopolyville"

Parody Written by:

Michael Pacholek

The Lyrics

Too bad the syllables have to be messed up to fit the rhythm: "Mon-o-POL-y-ville," as opposed to the correct "Mon-OP-o-ly-ville."
Takin' my Chances
doin' my dances
all of the money, I know it's fake.
Drummin' my fingers
in Jail there lingers
a guy who three double rolls of dice did take.

Wasting away again in Monopolyville
searchin' for my next Boardwalk hotel.
Some people claim that there's a banker to blame
but I know... there's Railroads to sell.

I don't know the reason
that Go is so pleasin'.
Oh yeah, you get hundred, and times it by two.
'Cause I have my drothers
with these Parker Brothers
I'm playing here, 'cause I haven't got Clue.

Wasting away again in Monopolyville
searchin' for my next Boardwalk hotel.
Some people claim that there's a banker to blame
now I think... yeah, I'll buy, what the hell.

(instrumental break)

I blew out my bankroll
on the last diceroll.
Water Works, had to mortgage, it's gone.
But there's 12 that I'm rollin'
it's not like I've stolen
that five hundred bucks that helps me hang on.

Wasting away again in Monopolyville
searchin' for my next Boardwalk hotel.
Some people claim that there's a banker to blame
but I know... I'm playin' so well.

Yes, and... some people claim that there's a banker to blame
but I know... I'm playin' so well.

Just to annoy you, Mr. Pacholek, I'll admit that I was just, coincidentally, playing Lord of the Rings Monopoly with my nephew a couple of days ago. Yes, I'm THAT big of a nerd...but you love me anyway.

5s, by the way...this is very good, Michael...=)

My favorite line was "I'm playing here, 'cause I haven't got Clue." LOL

Fine parody Michael. The title Monopolyville is a bit cumbersome but you more than make up for it with the clever lyrics. Well done. I really like your stuff when you do funny and clever vs angry. Let's see now 4 houses and a hotel make 5.

Very good use of the song, Mike. Read very smoothly with some really funny lines. "I don't know the reason that Go is so pleasin'" and "cause I haven't got Clue" are just some of the highlights.

Thank you everyone, and an extra roll of the dice to Guy for coming up with the best Comment line.

Now that's real nice, seeing Mr. Pacholek and Mr. DiRito french-kiss-and-make-up. Oprah, can't you feel the love between those two good ole boys? *Sniff*...brings a tear to this ole country doctor's eye.

This one made me smile, too, Michael...and want to play more Monopoly.

Dr. Phil, you fatuous fraud, while I may be from New Jersey, and I did vote for Gov. Jim McGreevey twice, I am NOT looking to French-kiss any man, certainly not Guy, who not the Amirighter most sensitive to gay rights.

This year is Monopoly's 70th Anniversary! (Parker Brothers patented the game in 1935.)
