MY SONG

Well it’s not a bit funny, I’m here in my home,
I have to stay in and I’m stuck on my own.
I just can’t stop coughing, with a fever as well,
My throat’s burning up, yeah, and I feel like hell.

This self-isolation is bringing me down,
I can’t even get to the food stores in town.
I hoped that my neighbours would help me you see,
But it seems they’re all ill and are stuck just like me.

I guess I’ll pass the time away writing a song,
It may be quite dreadful but moves along.
You may not like it, you may not like it, but what can I do?
Perhaps when I’m better I’ll write one for you.

I sit in my lounge as I read my book,
And then I’m beginning to think what to cook.
But the truth then hits me that I haven’t a bean,
I’m right up the Swanee if you know what I mean.

So excuse me for whingeing, what else can I do?
As far as I know you are suffering too.
But the thing is what I want to say
We’ll all get better soon, for that I pray.
