SEVEN TO FOUR

Setting the alarm at an ungodly hour
Is it no wonder I feel sour
I’m wonderin’ what the day will have in store
Put on the kettle for my cup of cocoa
Scratching my head as I must be loco
And doin’ this every day from 7 to 4
Slavin’ 7 to 4
Just to make my partner happy
But it’s better than stayin’ home and change the nappies
I just hate that poop and the babies don’t stop cryin’
I prefer to leave them back at home and I’m not lyin’

I start off every mornin’
Goin’ out my door though it’s often cold and pourin’
I don’t use the car I’m aware of global warming
Been flooded twice and I find it quite alarming...hmm

I walk to work in all kinds of weather
Sometimes I have to run hell for leather
And hope I reach the care home high and dry
Waiting for me is a right ol’ mixture
Most of the residents are a fixture
And they’ve been there for years just waiting to die

But the people there are grateful
And you know for sure they’re all lovin’ and not hateful
When they’re not in bed they’re downstairs and watching telly
And it’s true that sometimes it gets rather smelly

Yes the hours are long and boring
But you have to laugh when you hear the old bats snoring
There are times it’s quiet the silence then is perfect
And when going home you just know that it’s been worth it

And I know they’re very grateful
And I know for sure they’re all lovin’ and not hateful
