The Lyrics

You didn't think I was going to neglect to note the passing of George Steinbrenner, did you?
(instrumental opening)
I'm riding in my car.
I turn on the radio.
On W-F-A-N
they say the skipper's gotta go.
George said for the whole year
this new one was hired.
But that's the death-kiss.
Oo-woo!
Fired!

Is this Billy Martin's fourth?
Or only his third?
Lou Piniella came back.
George gave him his word.
Called "my baseball people."
You know they've conspired.
He'll shoot, he won't miss.
Oo-woo!
Fired!

He had dear old Ralph Houk right from the start.
But George's meddling told him he had to part.
They came and they went through Big Stein's rule.
Will he ever find one who can keep...
his...
cool... ?

Joe Torre is the one he'll get.
Six Pennants, 4 titles.
Fans' forgiveness and forget
are a late, welcome arrival.
George got sick and old.
But Hank and Hal were wired.
So Joe left before...
he could be...
fired!

Fired!
Houk quit before he's
Fired!
Bill Virdon was
Fired!
Billy Martin was
Fired!
Bob Lemon was
Fired!
Billy, 2nd time
Fired!
Dick Howser quit before he's
Fired!
Gene Michael was
Fired!
Lemon, 2nd time
Fired!
Stick, 2nd time
Fired!
Clyde King was next!
Fired!
Billy, 3rd time
Fired!
Yogi Berra was
Fired!
Billy, 4th time
Fired!
Sweet Lou was
Fired!
Billy, 5th time
Fired!
Sweet Lou, 2nd time
Fired!
Dallas Green was
Fired!
Bucky Dent was
Fired!
Stump Merrill was
Fired!
Buck Showalter
Fired!
I'm not sure George would've thought this was funny. He liked to praise working-class, lunch-bucket guys like Bruce did, but his taste in music ran more toward classical and military bands.

I'm a little late. Mine will be on tomorrows. GREAT use of OS, and ohhhh that "Boss"(once again clever for using Boss on Boss)

Nicely done, Mike...and you didn't have to bring in Bob Lemon to finish it. ;D
