The Lyrics

If the Democrat majority in Congress postpones controversial legislation before the November 2nd elections in order to lose fewer seats, they may feel freer to pass bills in the remaining lame-duck sessions before January 2011. Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve fall on Friday, after the news cycle; House Speaker Nancy Pelosi may be wrapping new gifts for the American people already! See TOS for original lyrics.
Oh, for a long, long while, Dems may do defections;
Cut funds raised so short, then few reach elections.
When Tea Parties gather, spurn and leave them lame,
They'll have little time for the waiting game.

Oh, the Ways and Means clowns are precocious crew:
Big spenders on benders.
For sixty precious days, they'll spend us blue;
In specious ways, they'll spend, we'll rue.

I did a take on this (the original by Walter Houston in Knickerbocker Holiday) back on March 24. Yours is equally compelling. Sadly, it may be TOO long a time from May to November. ;D

Not familiar with the original, but you do a good job of pointing out one of the flaws in our system, the damage a lame duck congress can inflict before the new team arrives. A relic of the days of horses and mud roads that perhaps should be looked into.

OMR: Thanks; I missed your take but will look for it though IDNKTOS.
Patrick: Thanks; Congress' mischief may be not only spending but more control over our lives.
