The Lyrics

A truly difficult song to parody I must say. They say the one that gets you, you never hear it coming.
Welcome darkness, you're my friend,
I've come to stalk in you again,
Because my mission I am sneaking,
Up on you while you are sleeping,
And the bullet, that I planted in your brain
It's not a game
Never heard no sound of violence

In endless creams I am not shone
More advanced than Coppertone
Tweak the windage on my scope sight
The elevation is exactly right
And his eye was caught by the point of a laser light
Slugs perfect flight
And heard no sound of violence

And in the infrared he saw
Five hundred meters, spotter swore
Bullets killing without speaking
Moon is shining without glistening
Snipers righting wrongs that choice is never theirs
And no on dares
Question the tool of violence

Schools I went to I should know
Two shots one kill answers "No"
Hear these words that I might preach too
Fear my aim that I will reach you
But my shells, like silent bullets fell

No echo, in the hells of violence

And the victim died and payed
For the error that he made
So divine lashed out no warning,
And on that night it was storming
He resigned said, ' the blood from the profits
Aren't worth it to me anymore',
And left Marine Corps
And ended no more sound of violence.
Based on some first hand accounts, a few ex-USMC snipers/spotters and artistic license.

I haven't heard the original in awhile(I did try to read it and pace it where I could). I do like what you did with this parody, it's very good!

Thanks for all the votes and comments. A bit of a tough on on this as I have " The Graduate " soundtrack, which has two versions of this song ( same lyrics, slightly different tempos ) and the downloaded lyrics looked as if they had an extra word in here or there vs what I heard on TG.

I'd say you banged this one out but then you used a silencer. Your word play is working for you. Keep polishing it. 555

Thanks Guy and Robbie G. This is probably the first parody I have received 4/5 pacing and 1 thru 5 funny and 2-5 overall. This is for MILTARY and SWAT snipers, who are doing a very hard job. I am NOT promoting little amateur $shithead snipers like the Tower sniper ( can't remember the campus ) or the Beltway sniper. I thank EVERYONE for not bagging the pacing on this because they didn't ( or did ) find it funny.

Hmm... I think this was the first one I've seen on such a subject, and I like original so...

Thanks again to Rick C and K1chyd. I did a THOROUGH check on this song by decade ( 60s and 70s ) and by name ( The Sound of Silence vs Sound(s) of Silence ) before I even made this. PS to K1chyd-rhymezone.com helped a bit on this, as there is only one word listed there that rhymed with listening.

Brilliant. I have an original song called "All Expenses Paid (Vacation To Viet Nam) that is about a friend of mine who was shot by a sniper in 'Nam. Very touching. Keep up the good work, R.A.

544. Sorry, didn't think it was terribly funny.
Agrimorfee - September 16, 2005 - Report this comment
(ABC05) In the effort to graft the idea onto the OS, I think some coherence got lost.
Red Ant - September 16, 2005 - Report this comment
Thanks Dominic, and no, not terribly funny, which I was aware of when I wrote this. No need to apologise.

Thanks Agrimorfee, though I found that the OS was actually too short to tell the complete story.

For all, don't have reservations about voting this however you see it; I'd rather get even a 411 than a non-vote and I'm sure most of you know this OS. It isn't like I'm going to go ballistic over it, so to speak. ;-)
Adagio - September 17, 2005 - Report this comment
(ABC05) Already voted and commented, but I'd like to add that some parodies aren't meant to be funny, just give pause to thinking. So thank you for putting this one up. "Funny" in this case can be substituted with "profound". Very good job, Ant.
