The Lyrics

It pays to have good hearing while at sea, you never know what you might discover...
'Scuse me, captain, my ears sense
A group of nasty hooligans
I think they're pissed in the sense of drinking
And their temperament's not simm'ring
So I'm thinking I can guess what flag they've raised
I can say
That that's the sound of pirates

I heard them scream out "Booty ho!"
Doesn't seem they mean girls, no
And the footsteps they make are half
Your standard leather boots upon wood and
The distinctive tap made by damnable peg legs, I
Am sure I'm right
Those are the sounds of pirates

Can't tell if they're starboard or port
But I still hear their parrot squawk
It repeats the orders loud, distinct
So I know those people want to sink
Any scurvy dogs who happen to be there
With loot to snare
Distinctive sounds of pirates

And now I think that they're close
Might hear grapples clank like so
Hear my words that I might teach you
We should scarper 'fore they breach through
For these cur are fine with our blood spilled
Because those are the wills of pirates

Why do you stand there unswayed
By the valid points I've made?
Now I can hear the worst warning
Cannonball holes are now forming
We will sink to Davy Jones's Locker, wait a sec, how can silence fall?
Those were our own balls
You beat me to the sounds of pirates

This may sound like sacrilege, but I'm going to say it anyway: I prefer the Disturbed version of this song. Way more emotion, an epic buildup, hasn't been memed to death.

Good parody. I think even Paul Simon thought Disturbed caught the spirit of the song better than he did. Has that ominous tone that the original lacks. Though anyone who pierces his chin with iron rings has to be more than a little "disturbed".
