The Lyrics

Hello stranger, my old friend
I see you're slipping down the drain
Because a chasm slowly creeping
Left its deeds as I was weeping
And the chasm that was planted is ingrained
And explains
Why I hear only silence.

Through all distress I've talked and grown
E'en though I was alone.
'Neath the control of a sweet stamp
I turned this scholar from the old and damned
And my eyes I dabbed
In a flash when I saw your plight
Mine was just trite
I touched and found just silence.

And in his gentle might I saw
Facaded steeple on the floor
Painful freaking about seeking
Painful fearing about listening
Painful righting wrongs his voice has never shared
He did not dare
Perturb the wound of silence.

"Rules," said I, "You do not know
Silenced they don't stretch and grow
Hear my quiet I might leech you
Of the pain so that it won't reach you."
But my cares, like silence went to hell
And ached so
For his wall of silence.

And the steeple bowed and laid
For only sod it was made
And the signs smashed they were mourning
And these words saw it was forming
And the words said
"I see that you profit.
Rid of me, you ignored my call
And that is not all.
You whispered, broke the sounds of silence."

Really a great job, both textually, lyrically and pacing/syllabic matching and sound emphasis. Pretty much perfect and a message that reveals a good deal of emotional depth...5's ~ ~ ~

It's very well written but, you lost me here, Pat. What do you expect from someone whose parodies are primarily about such deep subjects as breasts and flatulence??? 555s though.

Your view, Rick C. Thanks! Mine are usually clear as mud, except for the funny ones. Shouldn't take those orange pills. :)

I keep reading Jesus into this...am I close?
Adagio - July 21, 2005 - Report this comment
Thanks Dee and Merry. Merry... It's mainly what you want to read into it, so I guess in your translation that's what it would mean.

It's about me, not Jesus.
