The Lyrics

At long last, the project is complete: I have now done song parodies for all 30 Major League Baseball teams. I purposely did the Dodgers last, to punish them for leaving Brooklyn.
Where have all the Dodgers gone?
Long time passing.
Where have all the Dodgers gone?
Long time ago.
Where have all the Dodgers gone?
To Los Angeles, every one.
Oh, will we never learn?
When will we ever learn?

Where has Sandy Koufax gone?
Long time passing.
Where has Sandy Koufax gone?
Long time ago.
Where has Sandy Koufax gone?
Elbow hurts in Cooperstown.
Oh, will we never learn?
When will we ever learn?

Where has our Steve Garvey gone?
Long time passing.
Where has our Steve Garvey gone?
Long time ago.
Where has our Steve Garvey gone?
Child support, not just one.
Oh, will we never learn?
When will we ever learn?

Where has Valenzuela gone?
Long time passing.
Where has our Fernando gone?
Long time ago.
Where has Valenzuela gone?
To Weight Watchers, weighs a ton.
Oh, will we never learn?
When will we ever learn?

Where has our Kirk Gibson gone?
Long time passing.
Where has our Kirk Gibson gone?
Long time ago.
Where has our Kirk Gibson gone?
Broadcasting Detroit's new bums.
Oh, will we never learn?
When will we ever learn?

Where has Mike Piazza gone?
Long time passing.
Where has Mike Piazza gone?
Long time ago.
Where has Mike Piazza gone?
Off to Flushing, tabloid fun.
Oh, will we never learn?
When will we ever learn?

Where have all the Dodgers gone?
Long time passing.
Where have all the Dodgers gone?
Long time ago.
Where have all the Dodgers gone?
Off the deep end, every one.
Oh, will we never learn?
When will we ever learn?

Not bad, but you forgot Tom LaSorda. This site inspires brain storming, doesn't it? ;-)

One of my "Wish I Coulda's is seeing the Dodgers play at Ebbetts field - I was only four when they left Brooklyn. I did get to see the Amazin' Mets play at the Polo Grounds a few years later, and Charlie Neal and Duke Snider where with them then. This song begs for a tribute to the ol' Brooklyn Bums.

I agree with Tim, Lasorda would have made this song totally complete. But still, good job, and congrats for finishing the project.

Congratulations on a truly phenomenal accomplishment. In this song, I liked the Valenzuela verse the best. d;:^)

Nice work. Parodies for all 30 teams? You should check out my parody about the Marlins on this site. I wrote it after the 1998 season when they unloaded all their good players after their first championship. Ironically I'm a Cubs fan - maybe I'm the fan they should blame for their loss in the NLCS.

Congratulations, Michael. That was an ambitious project and you carried it off very well. I was about David C's age and living in the Los Angeles area when the Dodgers moved west, so I don't really share New Yorkers' sense of loss. But I do know that there was something special about the rivalry of the Dodgers, Giants and Yankees in the 40s and 50s, and I don't think that any of today's rivalries are able to capture that same magic.

Michael, send me a PM on the message if you want to present all 30 parodies on a single page as an album.

Thanks, everyone. Tim: You know how much space Fernando takes up. I couldn't possibly fit Tommy in there too. And I got a call from David Duchovny asking me where Scully is. Mr. Pierce: Considering what Cub fandom does to people, you must be the Linus with the security blanket.

You have my blessing to dump on the Dodgers any time! I think that Linus the Cubs fan is the one with the Great Pumpkin... there's always next year!

Thanks for this funny parody, Mike! And to everyone reading this, I'm inviting you to see my NBA project, in which I come up with parodies for all 30 teams. Thanks for the inspiration. And one more thing: THE DODGERS SUCK!
