The Lyrics

When you’re young you want to wander free,
Not be kill-curred arbitrarily.
But young people are hurt so;
Sometimes when outside they go. . .
Need a town without pit bulls, it’s true.

A kid waits, stops for a passing car,
Suddenly in front of her curs are—
They have escaped from their cage;
They are in a violent rage.
Ain’t a town without pit bulls, too true.

The young have problems, many problems
As they try to make in life a start.
It’s hard to help them, try and help them
As the dogs brandish their fangs and tear ’em apart.

Take the lips off while jaws hold on fast—
Girls and boys thus attacked might not last.
How can we keeps tots alive,
How can ANYONE survive
When their ripping knives tear you in two?

No, it isn’t very pretty what a clown with rout pit bulls can do.

I can't walk six blocks without getting attacked by a dog. This song really hits home. I've thought of getting my concealed carry permit primarily to protect against 4-legged assailants. Though I can imagine what kind of hell one would be put through for shooting a dog. Far worse than shooting a person. Kansas City, Kansas ordered all so-called "pit-bull" dogs out of the city. Those that remained were sent to the new George Dunn Animal Shelter, or as I call it "Doggie Dachau". Many years ago, a city animal control officer reported in the newspaper that a once troubling stray dog problem had vanished on South Mill Street. He didn't know why. That was where the city had settled an influx of Hmong refugees from the war in Laos. I wonder if he ever figured it out.

there is something humorous about the mix of words to this old GenePitney tune . . . But it's more like a County without ~Animal Control~, Sir !

Great new series, JAB! Actually, Cincinnati did once have (and may still have) an ordinance banning pit bulls. What a pity your city ain't like Cincin-niti! ;D

A couple months ago, one of the local TV stations ran and ran and ran "Town Without Pity". A pretty grim movie about a group of US soldiers accused of raping a German girl. Robert Blake & Frank Sutton (Sergeant Carter from "Gomer Pyle USMC") were two of the defendants. In the end, the girl was harassed and driven to suicide by an overzealous US defense attorney played by Kirk Douglas.
