Oh, why is it that I can never get through
All those Deutsch notions?
In class I’ve hit bottom; still falling, I rue—
I’ve lost track, though paying attention.

I’m a stooge linguistical clown—“C” is gone
And “F” calls to me, sadly.

I see my grades tumble, no thoughts in my head. . .
Wish I’d found my sentiency working.

GPA continues to drop through the hole
And it’s not rebounding.
The cases employed—idiotly mixed;
Classmates snicker and squeal all around me.

Nominativ I start, but somehow I reverse
And I’ve found Akkusativ.
And they see the great blunders, my teachers, I’ve made. . .
“Guy’s a dimwit—Genitiv für Dativ!”

“Nein!!!!!!”

My grades will keep falling as long as I give
All the wrong endings—
Scheisse! can’t remember if it is “die Frau,”
The mind-bending pronoun palette’s blending.

Oh, why is it that I can never get through?
I’m no Deutsch doyen!
In class I’ve hit bottom; teach calling me “du,”
As I’m wracking another declension.
