The Lyrics

Said the little boy to the little girl
"Do you know what I know?"
"In the pumpkin patch, Little Girl -
Want to see a real show?"
On Hallowe'en, flying through the sky
The Great Pumpkin hovering up high
The Great Pumpkin hovering up high!

Said the big sister to the girls and boys
"There's my blockhead brother!"
"Half pint Orson Welles, Girls and Boys
Just my blockhead brother!"
"He sits and waits for something that won't come
While we trick or treat and have fun
While we trick or treat and have fun!"

Said the Red Baron to the Flying Ace
"Do you see what I see?"
"From your Sopwith Camel. Flying Ace
Some lame looking party
A nudnik kid shivers in the night
Let us trick him, give him a fright
Let us trick him, give him a fright!"

Said the little girl to the little boy
"There was no great pumpkin!"
"Just a stupid dog, Little Boy
You owe me restitution!
I'll sue, I'll sue - I missed trick or treat
So, I'll toilet paper your street
Yes, I'll toilet paper your street!

Sigh, good grief and rats!

This is a funny song. Nice transfer of holidays. Brings back memories of Snoopy vs the Red Baron. "Half Pint Orson Welles" is another nice Halloween reference. Nice to see a clean, happy song today.

Thanks, Patrick - The only way to be funny is to be clean and happy. The political stuff gets laughs, but gets old.

I really liked it! Wish it could have been longer.

Next you'll be telling us there's no Santa Claus and Easter Bunny ..... never cared for that comic strip, but the switch from OS concept to this one was quite imaginative. Do you see three Fives, dear?

Thanks, Derry - glad you enjoyed. Thanks, Meriadoc - the OS is only 4 verses, but this says enough in the TV special. Thanks, TT - Peanuts was cool in the Sixties and is still my favorite.

Nice take on this, 2Eagle. (Thought I commented a few days ago, but must have failed to hit 'send'.) Yours has a more effective conclusion than mine of last week's. Peanuts meets Bing Crosby and Halloween meets Xmas for a double dose of 60s holiday nostalgia.

Thanks, Lifeliver - Halloween is the nightmare before Christmas. Charles Shultz said that the Great Pumpkin fantasy was about jumping the gun on Santa Claus.
