The Lyrics

THE PUB CALLED THE MIGHTY HUNK

There is a pub in Tunbridge Wells
They call it the Mighty Hunk.
And it’s where my Mum and Dad first met
When they were rolling drunk.

My mother is a baker,
But bread’s not what she sells.
She flaunts herself all over town
Down in Tunbridge Wells.

My father sells protection,
Collects from store to store.
And if the trader doesn’t pay
He gets to sell no more.

They’ve now been both arrested,
They’ll have their day in court.
And although they tried their best for bail,
Alas it came to nought.

The moral to this story,
Is be careful what you sell.
Don’t be doing stupid things
Down in Tunbridge Wells.

There is a pub in Tunbridge Wells
They call it the Mighty Hunk.
And it’s where my Mum and Dad first met
When they were rolling drunk.

Sounds like New Jersey. As I know.

As we enter the holiday season, our hearts naturally turn to celebrating our families. Nicely done.

No politics! I like that. I need to look into my family tree a little more. I'm sure there are some relatives still living in it. Michael says it sounds like New Jersey. It doesn't sound too much like Kansas City. Oh, there are harlots and protection racketeers. But they rarely get arrested or face a judge. The rhymes and meter are well matched to the original and reflect the same sordid life styles. Good choice.
