I can't verify all of these stories, so do take them with a grain of salt. I try and delete the ones that I know to be bogus, but I don't know the origins of every band name (and some bands intentionally tell different stories about picking their band name).

Eve 6 Their name was actually going to be "Eve", but that name already existed, so they chose to add a number, and all agreed on 6. Kewlio
Eve 6 The guys in Eve 6 are huge X-files fans. In one eposide about cloning the talk about different women they cloned as Eves. Eve 6 was the one that got away, I think. So it isn't just letters and numbers. Nyla Howell
Eve 6 Max, Tony, and Jon of Eve 6 are huge X-File fans. They were watching the episode "Eve" and the 6th Eve was in a mental institution, was really crazy, and chewed the guards eyeball out, or something like that.
