Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> The Mighty Mighty Bosstones

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones', "Someday I Suppose"
The Misheard Lyrics:
There was a place and the name of the place escapes me
What I can't remember
It irritates me
Could be I can't remember
Could be I just do not
Let's move along the song
And try to find a plot
There was a girl and Oklahoma beaver
She gave me love and I said I never leave her.
The Real Lyrics:
There was a place
And the name of the place escapes me
When I can't rememeber
It irritates me
Could be I can't remember
Could be I choose to not
Let's move the song along
And try to find the plot
There was a girl and I don't know her name either
She gave me love and I swore I'd never leave her.
The Story: I don't know how I got to the assumption that he actually sung this. I've always known it to be wrong, but I've never actually bothered finding out what he really sings.:-) - Submitted by: Oddis
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones', "The Impression That I Get"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Never had to block on good.
The Real Lyrics:
Never had to knock on wood.
The Story: I didn't know what the proper lyrics were until I played Donkey Konga recently. - Submitted by: Andrea Huckstep
