Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Oingo Boingo

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Oingo Boingo's, "Can't See (Useless)"
The Misheard Lyrics:
And I can't feel
Now in front of my face.
The Real Lyrics:
And I can't see
Now in front of my face.
The Story: When he sings that long note at the end, I have a hard time figuring out. But he sings it so beautifully, that it doesn't matter. - Submitted by: Jake Small
Oingo Boingo's, "Dead Man's Party"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Leave your body vessel at the door.
or
Leave your body axle at the door.
The Real Lyrics:
Leave your body and soul at the door.
The Story: Four of us were driving one day and this song came on, so we cranked it. When we got to this lyric, we all sang something different! One girl thought it was 'body vessel' and two of us thought is was 'body axle'! The other one had to tell us that it was 'body and soul'. We still laugh about it to this day!! - Submitted by: Monica Rios
Oingo Boingo's, "Dead Man's Party"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Leave your body, ass #%@&, at the door
The Real Lyrics:
Leave your body and soul at the door
The Story: I was DeeJaying a dance and put on Dead Man's Party. A girl came up to complain about the lyrics. I asked her what was so offensive and she replied, 'You know that part where they say, 'Leave your body, ass #%@&, at the door.'' I explained that it said, 'Leave your body and soul at the door.' She said, 'Oh,' as a look of realization came over her face and she turned and walked away. You had to have been there. - Submitted by: Philip Munoa
Oingo Boingo's, "I Like Little Girls"
The Misheard Lyrics:
They don't care about my inflamations
They're not frightened by my revelations.
The Real Lyrics:
They don't care about my inclinations
They're not frightened by my revelations.
The Story: I thought that he was implying that he was so old, he was having health problems. I thought that was kind of gross. But then again, the entire song was pretty gross. Anyway, so I figured it worked for the song. I eventually looked it up, because I was having a problem with another part of the song. When I realized I'd made a huge mistake, I felt pretty ridiculous. I was relieved to see that I could stop singing about inflamations when I sang the song. - Submitted by: The Elf
Oingo Boingo's, "Only A Lad"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Nobody could help
The little man had no gravity.
The Real Lyrics:
Nobody could help
The little man had no gratitude.
The Story: I honestly thought the 'lad' was chucking someone out of a window. - Submitted by: Rachael
Oingo Boingo's, "Private Life"
The Misheard Lyrics:
I've got a tinzar
Hidden in the closet.
The Real Lyrics:
The skeletons are
Hidden in the closet.
The Story: I was always wondering what a tinzar was, then I remembered there was an album called 'Skeletons In The Closet.' Still I couldn't hear what it. Then I finally realised he just had the emphasis in a wierd place he says 'The skele TONSare'. - Submitted by: Jack smithson
Oingo Boingo's, "Who Do You Want to Be"

Do you feel like a saint in otter's clothes
