Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Meatloaf

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Meatloaf's, "Bat Out of Hell"
The Misheard Lyrics:
And I never saw the "side on" curve till it was way too late
The Real Lyrics:
And I've never seen the sudden curve till it's way too late.
The Story: I mean. What's a "side on" curve? That doesn't begin to make any sense. - Submitted by: Indigo Montoya
Meatloaf's, "Bat Out of Hell"
The Misheard Lyrics:
I've never seen the son of turds 'til it's way too late
The Real Lyrics:
I've never seen the sudden curve 'til it's way too late
The Story: My cousins kept teasing me about this and replaced as many words on the 'Bat Out of Hell' album as possible with turd. - Submitted by: SEM
Meatloaf's, "Paradise By The Dashboard Light"
The Misheard Lyrics:
We were goin' like the middle on the edge of the night.
The Real Lyrics:
We were glowing like the metal on the edge of the knife.
The Story: Back in the mid 80s, I had an argument with a friend about this after having sung the lyric over the car radio. The correct lyric made no sense to me. Also, 'night' rhymed with 'tight' from the following 'well come on, hold on tight'. I was so certain that I lost $10. - Submitted by: 70s_fan
