Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody.
For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.
This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.
Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not
by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see
misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and
misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

'Cause I really always knew that my little crime
Would be cold that's why I got a heater for your fries.
'Cause I really always knew that my little crime
Would be cold that's why I got a heater for your thighs.
The Story: I wasn't paying attention closely to the song the first time I heard it, and I zoned in at this moment and heard "...would be cold, that's why I got a heater for your fries." Which actually makes more sense without the context. - Submitted by: Isaac
Come here in a foreign place
Caught here in a fiery blaze
The Story: In my accent (I'm from the northeastern U.S.) I pronounce the word "foreign" differently than most Americans do. I pronounce it like FAR-in, unlike most Americans, who say FOR-in. Now, when the singer says fiery, he does something that is often done in rock and metal, which is that he changes the "long i" sound so it sounds like "ahh...". So when he sings "fiery" sounds kind of like FAR-ih, which made me think he was saying "foreign". I shouldn't need to explain the confusion between place and blaze, because they sound similar enough to each other that, once I'd misheard "fiery" as "foreign", I figured he was saying "place" when he was really saying "blaze". - Submitted by: Raphael
She's a drowning place for cheez-its
She's a rage fork every ugly singing
Every filthy dirt
And its a drink of poisoned lime
To so so waiting with our kings
Falling down to sedimentary beasts
She's a drowning place for demons
She's a cage for every unclean spirit
Every filthy bird
And makes us drink the poisoned wine
To fornicating with our kings
Fallen now is Babylon the Great.

You've gone too far: a clone!
You've gone too far: acclaim!
The Story: I saw this circulating on some lyric videos and websites for the longest time. I see how to some it can sound like "A clone!"... but in the context of the song, it doesn't fit with the theme or make sense. - Submitted by: justaperson
You wanna hit my son?
You wanna hear my side?
The Story: For as long as I remember I've heard the line like this and even after I found out what the real lyrics were, I still hear it like this. Makes the song sound much darker. - Submitted by: Lorelei
You should have know the crows are evil.
You should have known the price of evil.
The Story: I have no idea why but that's what I thought M. Shadows was saying. Most of the song was hard for me to understand. That's how I am with most songs. - Submitted by: Alejandro Cerano
Time still turns the pages of my broken sperm
Time still turns the pages of the book it's burned
The Story: My girlfriend thought these were the lyrics - and it made no sense to her! (Talk about mixed metaphors!) - Submitted by: pmggp
When ginsengs hit my blood You'll be the one to fall!
When sin's deep in my blood
You'll be the one to fall.
The Story: I was drinking lots of energy drinks at the time. And we would say ginseng alot - Submitted by: Ashley
