"Nice Girls"
Misheard Lyrics: Nice girls (nice girls)
They all gotta potty Nice girls (nice girls) They doo-doo. Original Lyrics: Nice girls (nice girls)
Think a lot about it Nice girls (nice girls) They do it too. |
Story about this misheard lyric by: Julia When I first heard this song, I thought I must be mishearing it. But if perchance I wasn't, I thought, gee, she's being uncommonly (may I say refreshingly?) realistic about a generally taboo subject that gives people considerable angst. Eventually along came the internet with its lyric sites. So I was able to check, and as I suspected all along, I had misheard it. Instead, she was talking about something that had become considerably less of a taboo by the 1970s. |
Insincere Lyrics:
"Don't Cry Out Loud"
The Insincere Lyrics: And if you should fall
Remember you almost had it all Why They're Insincere: This is supposed to be inspirational. Thanks for reminding what I almost had Melissa.

Inappropriate Lyrics:
"No One Can Love You More Than Me"
The Inappropriate Lyrics: No one can love you more than me.
Why They're Inappropriate: I think what she means is 'No one can love you more than I'. Even though both that and the actual title line are grammatically legitimate sentences, they have different meanings. The pronoun at the end of each is what is called an 'elliptical phrase', a phrase implied but not spoken except for the pronoun. The Pronoun 'I'' must be the subject of an elliptical phrase when it occurs in one, while 'me' must be the object of any elliptical phrase in which it occurs. So 'No one can love you more than I' means 'No one can love you more than I love you'. 'No one can love you more than me' has to mean, if used correctly, 'No one can love you more than he or she loves me.' The latter would be a pretty preposterous statement, albeit grammatically valid, and certainly doesn't fit the context of the song. So surely what the line really means to say is 'No one can love you more than I,' which does fit into the song's context.
