Story about this misheard lyric by: Bill

I'd always thought it involved a sadness that the girl was interested in another girl rather than the (male) writer... In fairness, the charming Ms Gilberto's accent made that particular word a challenge to discern. And yes, I know what a direct object is! But (..."Not at 'him'") doesn't rhyme with 'sea'!

Song Parody Fragments:

"Girl From Ipanema"
Better Lyrics:
Short and pale and old and ugly
the girl from Chattanooga goes walking and when she passes
each man she passes says "YUK".
Original Lyrics:
Tall and tan and young and lovely
the girl from Ipanema goes walking and when she passes
each man she passes says "AH".
