Billy Joel's, "An Innocent Man"
The Insulting Lyrics:
You know you only hurt yourself out of spite
I guess you'd rather be a martyr tonight
That's your decision
Why They're Insulting:
If there's a chance of resurrecting this love, you're going about it the wrong way, Billy Boy. You don't insult your girlfriend and then act like you've done nothing wrong if you're trying to make up with her. Quit pretending to be so 'innocent' and assume some responsibility! The whole song is like this, but I could only quote part of it.

Billy Joel's, "Big Shot"
The Insulting Lyrics:
And when you wake up in the morning
With your head on fire
And your eyes too bloody to see
Go on and cry in your coffee
But don't come bitchin' to me
Why They're Insulting:
Well, I know that if I were hung over and unable to remember what I said the night before, I'd be insulted if my boyfriend told me not to come bitchin' to him.

Billy Joel's, "Just The Way You Are"
The Insulting Lyrics:
I don't want clever conversations,
don't wanna work that hard
I just want someone I can talk to
I want you just the way you are
Why They're Insulting:
Basically he's saying you're thick and shallow. He can't be bothered with a woman who can stretch him mentally and have a deep conversation with.

Billy Joel's, "The Longest Time"
The Insulting Lyrics:
I don't care what consequence it brings
I have been a fool for lesser things
Why They're Insulting:
What? He doesn't care about the consequences of what he does but then he admits that he's been a fool for lesser things than what the consequences are?

Billy Joel's, "The Stranger"
The Insulting Lyrics:
Don't be afraid to try again
Everyone goes south
Every now and then
You've done it, why can't someone else?
You should know by now
You've been there yourself
Why They're Insulting:
Although it's possible that he could be talking to himself, Joel appears to be lecturing someone in a patronizing manner.
