Somewhere in the book of Romans it says that "all have fallen short of what the LORD asks of us". Also Pride is listed as one of the 7 Deadly Sins. The 1986 remake of the Norman Greenbaum hit asks the same question: if you have a friend in Jesus then why don't you just live it instead of popping off the chops. "And they'll we are Christians by our love ..." ever heard that? : )
