Mommy and Dad are never nervous or mad
when you teenagers go
downtown
This is only a sample of Allan Sherman's funny parody of Petula Clark's 'Downtown'. What makes it really funny is that it is 'Downtown' sung from a parent's point of view. It only gets funnier as the song progresses.

It's a play where something went wrong
'Cause it's five hours, twelve minutes long
If you sit there, my friend,
From beginning 'til end,
Then your bladder better be strong!
This was Allan's parody of 'It's a Most Unusual Day.' My sister was listening to the song; she didn't usually like Allan Sherman's stuff, but she busted up laughing at this one! :D

When they told Missus Cohen that she'd lost her man
She said 'Must you interrupt me when I'm playing 'Pan'?'
Then she said to her partner, Missus RJ Rosen,
'Cohen was a lovely husband, but he's no good frozen.'
'Pan' is short for a complex card game called 'panguingue,' which was in the news about the time Allan wrote these lyrics.

I hum while you're bleeding!
Easily one of the very funniest lyrics he ever wrote! :D
