The Lyrics
Johnny Mercer wrote the lyirics to "Autumn Leaves," based on " Les Feuilles Mortes," by French poet Jacques Prévert. For anyone with a real knowledge of French, unlike yours truly, who wants to waste time with this, the French OS can be found at http://www.johnnymercer.com/FAQ/Autumn%20Leaves.htm I've gone several steps beyond the sense of regret and remembrance present in the OS. The tenses are sometimes wrong, for scanning purposes, and I didn't even try to use the subjunctive where called for.
