The Lyrics

No 2 of my Christmas re-writes
MY PARTNER WASHED MY SOCKS LAST NIGHT

My partner washed my socks last night,
She washed my pants as well.
I couldn’t help but hear her swear;
She didn’t like the smell.

“My God!” she said, “I don’t know why
I do these things for you.”
But even though she says these things,
You know, it’s nothing new.

For her, I’d move both Heaven and Earth
To have her by my side.
I couldn’t do the things she does,
No matter how I try.

She cooks my meals, she cleans the house,
Yet still goes out to work.
And all the time I’m back at home.
That’s why I feel a jerk!

But when at last the day is done,
And dinner’s cleared away.
The time has come to have some fun,
And find the time to play.

We used to watch the TV soaps,
But now switch off the box.
We’re happy in each other’s arms.
To hell with washing socks!
