The Lyrics

About time I got around to this: The final chapter of my Jump the Shark Trilogy! If you don't know what that means, or even if you do, check out www.jumptheshark.com, then see my previous two entries, "Jumping O'er the Shark" and "Don't Jump the Shark."
Shark! This show is now jumping.
Bad plot twists, of thee we sing.
Mike and Gloria to the coast.
Edith's gone, and Archie's toast.

Oy-ful all these scripts now rise!
Poor replacements for some guys!
With pathetic cast, now claim:
"Let them go, we don't need them!"

Shark! This show is now jumping.
Bad plot twists, of thee we sing.

"Happy Days," this legend sown.
But it was when Richie's gone.
Don't blame Fonz, his jump was cool.
He "jumped" teaching shop in school.

"Boston Public" sure seemed fine
'til they brought in Seven of Nine!
Ship, she saved way out in space.
Her next show had numbered days.

Shark! This show is now jumping.
Bad plot twists, of thee we sing.

Andy Griffith, black-and-white.
Color film did not seem right.
Will's girl Grace had been so thin.
Pillows suddenly seem "in."

Too much gadgets, story slipped.
"Knight Rider" fans' wings get clipped.
"Ally McBeal" made me shriek:
That show was jumping every week!

Shark! This show is now jumping.
Bad plot twists, of thee we sing.

Individuals, too, jump.
What next will Madonna hump?
Actors jump, they try to sing.
Singers act, the same damn thing.

Shark-jumping is done by teams.
Listen to the New York screams.
Yankees should have been such locks.
How'd they blow it to the Sox?

Shark! This show is now jumping.
Bad plot twists, of thee we sing.

Hit the nail on the head about Ally McBeal - there was also Moonlighting when that short stubbled guy became a regular - and Married With Children when they got that hunky tanned George Michael lookalike as the next door neighbour (I think he might've helped happy days jump the shark too) - 555

I liked Ally McBeal.....well.....what I really liked was watching Lucy Liu, I guess.....

Item of interest (or maybe not? ;-) - I was told that the reason LA Law was taken off the air when it was still a hit was to avoid having it possibly go downhill at a later date...

Great job. But I totally agree with Johnny about Ally McBeal.

Hmm.... do you deliberately watch all the crappy shows just to get material for your parody writing? There must be something good on. Or maybe not, wasn't it The Boss who sang "57 channels with jumping sharks" or something like that? :-)

Stuart: The guy you're talking about, Ted McGinley, is the patron saint of jumptheshark.com. He also ruined "Happy Days," and was on "The Practice" as it started to go downhill. The "Moonlighting" guy you're talking about was Curtis Armstrong, alias Booger from "Revenge of the Nerds," which had as one of its villains... Ted McGinley! Johnny: Finally, something in Boston you like watching more than the Red Sox. Merry: Sorry, but as I said in "Jumping O'er the Shark," "LA Law" jumped when Rosalind fell down the elevator shaft. Know 1: Maybe Springsteen is a prophet. If so, then Bush better call Ryder Trucks.
